Project example - Post Office counter
Post Office asked us to provide ergonomics, usability and design input to the development of a new counter.
We worked with Post Office’s design agency on the specification of the staff workstations and customer interface of the new counter.
An iterative, user centred (inclusive design) approach was adopted; when the initial design work was complete a mock-up counter was produced, enabling user testing which included input from Post Office counter staff, customers and disability access specialists.
The outputs of the testing were fed back into the development process and the counter design was tweaked prior to installation into pilot sites. Further user testing was conducted at the pilot sites.
The new counter was then value-engineered and modified according to the findings from the pilot sites.
The new counter has now been successfully rolled out across the network of Post Offices.
